You Me At Six played mainstage at the Birmingham o2 academy on the 9th March 2010. They recieved support from wtk (we the kings) this was the third time that I had seen them and they seem to have come a long way since 2008 supporting Cute Is What We Aim For, they've learned about hair cuts and heat styling too, it seems. The crowd got a double dose of american pop punk goodness when ftsk (forever the sickest kids) rolled on stage. They're not that good live, not gonna lie. The last song that they played I think was whoa oh (me vs everyone) which has to have been the best song that they played, it was the opening night though so maybe it was all down to nerves, or do boys in bands ever get nervous? Maybe we should ask The Libertines. Answers on a postcard.
Then yma6 (you me at six) graced the crowd with their eagerly anticipated presence, I really can't even remember the order that they played the songs in or in fact whether they were any good or not, I was too busy being covered in beer and losing my shoes. Lead singer Josh Franceschi did make a delightful little speech about their album chart success, how it's all down to the fans and then something about them being from Surrey, like we connect with them or something because we're from Birmingham?
So from what I can remember it was an average gig, not meaning to offend anybody or anything but they're a British band and had support from two American bands, all three sounded pretty identical, I don't think that the quality of their music could ever really be that brilliant, whatever you're into though I suppose.
