The Drums, yeah again.

So so so late, the album's been out for months and months now but better late than never right?
"We only write about two feelings: one is the first day of summer when you and all of your friends are standing on the edge of a cliff watching the sun set and being overcome with all of your hopes and dreams at once. The other is when you're walking alone in the rain and realize you will be alone forever."
That pretty much sums up The Drums music, it's just this post war innocent lovely 'stuff' that can either make you want to go find your nearest beach and marry an indie boy, or go and cry in your room like a love sick teenager. How amazing is that. The album is solid, it takes you on a sort of roller-coaster ride life of the American teenager, songs like Me and the Moon (personal highlight of the album) are so exciting and well, indie. Then the polar opposites are Down By The Water which has soft lyrics and makes you think about that person that you really want, but just can't have; followed by It Will All End In Tears that has lyrics like, baby, i know you hate me so which is rolling with the punches, but not in a bad way, it's 'deep'. That's what's so great about the album, The Drums are powerful, and whether you love them or hate them they don't write songs about myspace/facebook/downloads like so many other bands just to try and sell, they stick to a simpler time. As painful as it is to say, their music is a bit limited so it's doubtful they would be able to stick to the above quote and keep up the hype, but we'll see. If you're going to do one thing this summer GO AND BUY THE ALBUM, please. xxxxxxxxxxxxx
